Why choose a Certified Professional Dog
Trainer and a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant? Did you know that the State of Colorado has no restrictions on "who" can say that they are a dog trainer??? We are working to see that regulations can be in place to protect the dog, the dog owner and the trainer/behavior consultant! Many people will call themselves a "behaviorist", but a true behaviorist has a PhD in behavior! Below are a few of the certifications a trainer can get on their own-these are the only "independent" certifications available...they are not affiliated with a school or pet store! Both groups require that you earn continuing education credits to keep the certification current! Certified Professional Dog Trainer-www.ccpdt.org You care about your dog. You want a positive experience for both you and your four-footed friend. Whether you are looking for a training class or private training, you are looking for a high-quality, safe and effective training experience. When you choose a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, you can be confident that you are working with a professional who has the knowledge and expertise to make your investment in dog training safe, effective and even fun! Certified Professional Dog Trainers have dog training skills as well as instructor skills to enhance the experience for you and your dog. Certified Professional Dog Trainers have earned their credential by demonstrating their knowledge and experience in dog training. A Certified Professional Dog Trainer stays informed of current knowledge in the field and is familiar with the latest, most effective training techniques and equipment.
Certified Dog Behavior Consultant-www.iaabc.org To be a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant through IAABC, applicants are assessed for knowledge in the five core areas of competency, as well as character and ethics and contributions to the field of animal behavior consulting. The five core areas are: Assessment and Intervention Strategies, Counseling Skills and Social Systems Assessment, Behavioral Science, General Knowledge of Animal Behavior and Species-Specific Knowledge.
